An AI assistant is planned. Until it is genuinely useful we would rather point you at the page that actually answers your question.
A compiler-based framework that ships very little JavaScript, a good fit for performance-sensitive interfaces.
Start Your ProjectSvelte moves most of the framework's work from the browser to the build step. Components compile to plain, targeted JavaScript that updates the page directly, with no virtual DOM layer, so bundles are typically small and runtime overhead is low.
SvelteKit is the application framework around it, providing routing, server rendering and form handling. The syntax is close to plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, which makes components short and readable, at the cost of a smaller ecosystem than React or Vue.
Suitability
And when it is not. Choosing the wrong tool costs more than any implementation detail.
In practice
Calculators, configurators and data visualisations that need to load fast and stay out of the way of the rest of a page.
SvelteKit builds for audiences on slower devices and connections, where every kilobyte of JavaScript costs real conversions.
Getting a working interface in front of users quickly, where Svelte's low ceremony shortens the path from idea to screen.
Considerations
Practical notes from running this in production.
Svelte is not part of our core listed stack; we take it on per engagement, and our default for new products remains React with Next.js. We say that up front rather than learning on your budget.
The ecosystem is younger, so component libraries, tutorials and experienced candidates are fewer than for React, which is a real hiring and maintenance cost.
The framework's reactivity model has changed between major versions, so it is worth confirming which version a project targets and its upgrade path.
Smaller bundle size is a genuine benefit, but it rarely outweighs ecosystem fit for a large product; we would weigh both honestly with you.
