A full framework with strong conventions, suited to large applications and teams that value structure over flexibility.
Start Your ProjectAngular is a complete frontend framework maintained by Google. Where React is a view library you assemble choices around, Angular ships routing, forms, HTTP, dependency injection and a testing setup as one opinionated package, written in TypeScript from the start.
That structure is its main trade-off: onboarding to a well-run Angular codebase is predictable because every project looks similar, but the framework asks you to adopt its conventions rather than make your own. It is common in enterprise environments with long-lived internal applications.
Suitability
And when it is not. Choosing the wrong tool costs more than any implementation detail.
In practice
Adding features, upgrading across major versions and paying down structural debt in applications a client already runs on Angular.
Data-dense tools with many forms, tables and permission levels, where Angular's conventions keep a large surface consistent.
Moving older Angular apps to current versions and standalone components, step by step, while the product keeps shipping.
Considerations
Practical notes from running this in production.
Our default for new frontends is React with Next.js; we work in Angular on request or when a client's existing codebase and team call for it, and we say so at the start.
Major versions arrive on a regular schedule, so an Angular codebase that falls several versions behind becomes a project of its own to upgrade.
RxJS is powerful and also the steepest part of the learning curve — unmanaged subscriptions are a common source of memory leaks.
Server-side rendering is supported, but it is not as central to the framework as it is in Next.js, which matters for search-driven sites.
