An AI assistant is planned. Until it is genuinely useful we would rather point you at the page that actually answers your question.
Google's Gemini models for multimodal features and teams already building on Google Cloud, taken on per engagement.
Start Your ProjectGemini is Google's family of large language models. It accepts text, images, audio and video as input, and is available through Google's developer API and through Vertex AI on Google Cloud, which adds the access control, regional endpoints and billing that enterprise teams already manage there.
Its practical draw is multimodal input in a single call — for example, reading a scanned form, a screenshot or a short video alongside text — and closeness to the Google Cloud ecosystem. If a team already runs its data and identity on Google Cloud, that proximity can simplify procurement and security review more than any model-quality difference would.
Suitability
And when it is not. Choosing the wrong tool costs more than any implementation detail.
In practice
Reading scans, photographs and screenshots alongside text to extract structured data, with validation of the output before it reaches a downstream system.
Models accessed through a client's existing Google Cloud project, so authentication, regional data placement and cost reporting sit inside controls the client already operates.
Considerations
Practical notes from running this in production.
We take on Gemini per engagement rather than as a house default. We have used other providers more often, and an honest scoping step includes a comparison on your own examples before committing.
The developer API and Vertex AI differ in terms, quotas, available features and data-handling commitments. Choosing between them is a contract and compliance question as much as a technical one.
Model names and versions change frequently. Pin the version you evaluated and rerun your evaluation set before moving to a newer one.
Multimodal inputs can be costly at volume; video and large images in particular. Model the cost against real traffic before designing around them.
